By now, most of you have seen the trailers for the first installment of Doom’s Doom reboot.
But how much of the game’s plot has been revealed?
IGN has the scoop on that.
First up, it seems that the game may be “more Doom,” according to developer id Software, which is developing a “Doom” sequel that’s due out in the first quarter of 2018.
As previously reported, Doom 3 had a similar premise as the first one, but it was much more complex and had more plot twists.
It’s also been suggested that the sequel will take place “a little bit before the original,” which is pretty much the opposite of the first Doom.
That’s not all, though.
The first Doom was also an adventure game that took place in a post-apocalyptic world.
The second one was a survival horror game.
It was also a first-person shooter that had you battling hordes of undead with a rifle, not a third-person one.
This time around, though, it’s not just a third person shooter.
Doom 3 has also been rumored to feature a fourth person shooter, with a focus on a stealth-focused multiplayer mode.
If it does, it would be the first “third-person” game in Doom’s history.
That said, it sounds like the sequel won’t be an adventure.
“Dying is the new normal.
You’re just going to have to find some way to survive in this post-war world,” developer id says in its press release.
“There’s no need to be afraid of death.”
The announcement also notes that the first game took place 20 years before the events of the second one, so it may take place before Doom 3.
In that way, it’ll be similar to how Doom 3 was originally set.
“We’re not going to tell you how the story will play out,” id says.
“It will be the story you play.
We’re going to put you in the shoes of the protagonist and the main antagonist.
And that will be you.”
The announcement also says that there will be “no zombies,” which could mean that Doom 3 won’t feature zombies at all.
“In fact, we’ll make sure that they’re just sort of on a shelf.
We want them to be a bit more interesting, but you won’t see them,” id developer says.
We’ll have more on Doom 3 in the coming weeks.
